Ross Chastain and Kyle Petty
Ross Chastain, since he moved to Trackhouse Racing in 2022, has been in NSASCAR headlines every other week. The No:1 Chevy Camaro ZL1 driver has established himself as a force to reckon with by showcasing his aggressive driving skills. He has been at the receiving end of praise and criticism for his driving style and attitude. Now former Cup driver Kyle Petty had weighed in on the debate.
Chastain is the most talked about driver in the series after his fight with rookie Noah Gragson last Sunday at Kansas. He landed a right hook on the LEGACY MC driver after a heated exchange among them. Many have come out in defense and against last year’s championship runner-up’s actions. Kyle Petty is among Chastain supporters.
The NBC Sports Analyst, in a video segment uploaded to NASCAR.com, pointed out that the Trackhouse driver is just an incarnation of many such drivers who drove aggressively at the start of their careers. He said, “OK, everybody likes to complain about Ross Chastain. He is what Joey Logano was. We go back a number of years; everybody liked to complain about Joey Logano,”.
Petty added that the establishment feels threatened by Chastain, which is why the complaint. He said, “What happens is, when you have a new guy running at the sharp end of the stick, what I mean is winning races and challenging the establishment, people are going to complain,”.

Kyle Petty compares Ross Chastain to Dale Sr. and Richard Petty
Petty pointed out that Chastain drives like the likes of Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty, who used to rattle the cages of their rival with a race win being the prime motive. He added that the Trackhouse driver is here to win races and not to make friends.
“Get off of Ross Chastain’s back. Here’s the deal: Ross Chastain drives like Richard Petty, like Cale Yarborough, like Dale Earnhardt Sr. did in a lot of ways, like Joey Logano does. He has one purpose, it’s to win the race,” Petty said.
“He didn’t come to make friends, he didn’t come to bake you a cake, to sing happy birthday to you, to hang out with you in the bus lot. He came to take your trophy and take your money, and that’s what he does on a fairly consistent basis,” Petty added.
