As the drivers headed into the second race of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, the aggression was still as strong as ever. The Kansas Speedway witnessed many dramatic moments throughout the race as tempers flared high. One such moment was when Ryan Blaney was heard cursing Ross Chastain on his team radio as he could not pass him.
Chastain is well-known for his aggressive driving style, not to mention the Hail Melon move in 2022. As Chastain defended his fourth position in a similar fashion against Blaney, he became the recipient of quite a few curses from him. Blaney was heard on his team radio asking his spotter, Josh Williams, to go and beat up Chastain’s spotter, Brandon McReynolds.
“Go f***ing knock Brandon McReynolds out. What a f***ing d***head. You [Chastain] would go faster if you looked out the f***ing windshield,” said Blaney, as per Dustin Albino (H&T: Pro Talk).
Ryan Blaney’s second outing in the 2023 Playoffs turned out to be a frustrating one from being unable to pass Chastain during Stage one to a major pit stop error, which cost him a lot of positions. Blaney finally finished P12, just one place ahead of Ross Chastain.

Ryan Blaney talks about the aftermath of his Daytona crash
Ryan Blaney’s crash in Daytona was a violent one. Blaney went head-on into the barriers after contacting Ty Gibbs, who then roped in around 16 cars in the wreck. When Blaney was asked about the incident’s aftermath, he was happy with how the front clip updates helped him during his crash.
Blaney said that he has gone over the incident very thoroughly with his team and NASCAR representatives as they worked on coming up with a solution so a similar situation does not happen again. Blaney praised the Cup Series’ Next Gen car updates as well, as he claimed that if not for them, his crash could have been much worse.
“Me and some NASCAR folks, they were in talks the week after Daytona and they kind of went over some data with me. So I knew a lot of it… I think the front clip updates were huge. I feel like if those weren’t in, and we wrecked at Daytona, it would’ve been a lot worse for sure,” said Blaney.
