Talladega never seems to disappoint regarding last-lap chaos, and the 2023 GEICO 500 was no different. Richard Childress Racing’s Kyle Busch secured the second victory lane entry of the season for the No:8 Chevy Camaro ZL1 team. It was his second career win at Talladega, the 13th for RCR, and the 62nd career Cup race for the veteran.

Busch was awarded the win after a caution was called due to the multicar wreck caused by Bubba Wallace, who led the race. The No:23 driver, alongside his close friend Ryan Blaney of Team Penske, surged to the lead on the final laps on the outside. The duo had a tough battle, and the No:12 car, which had better momentum, was going for the lead.

Bubba Wallace, who won his maiden cup race at the track in 2021, had no choice but to bloke hi. But the move was a bit late, and the Ford was too close to make such an aggressive black. He was turned by Blaney and collected multiple cars on the way. Kyle Busch got to the call before the caution was called.

Both Blaney and Wallace have been struggling to secure wins this season. The Penske driver went winless in the 2022 seasons and is yet to break the streak, and the P2 finish only adds to the pain. Wallace, who had to prove himself with a playoff finish in 2023 so far, has been struggling secure strong finishes though he has fast cars. Wallace’s teammate Tyler Reddick has already scored a win while he remains winless.
