NASCAR Talladega Cup Series Race results: Ross Chastain edged Austin Dillon to win the GEICO 500 taking home his second win of the 2022 season

Ross Chastain celebrates his victory at Talladega

NASCAR took to Talladega Superspeedway to host its tenth round of the NASCAR Cup Series race and it was one hell of a race and a last-lap overtake from the No.1 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 driver Ross Chastain of Trackhouse Racing of team Petty GMS MotorsportsErik Jones to claim his second Cup Series victory at Talladega Superspeedway.

Ross Chastain was in third place running behind Erik Jones and the HMS No.5 Kyle Larson at the beginning of the final lap. Kyle Larson tried to claim the lead but with Ross blocking him Chastain took this opportunity to maintain his momentum on the inside eventually taking the lead as both Jones and Larson failed to keep up.

With Ross Chastain at the helm and Jones and Larson losing pace, Austin Dillon of team RCR went on to place 2nd finishing behind Chastain and JGR’s Kyle Busch followed Dillon to finish at P3. Kyle Larson went on to finish 4th after losing his momentum at the start of the final lap and Martin Truex Jr. made it into the top 5 for the intense race at Talladega Superspeedway.

Erik Jones lost the lead to Ross Chastain and dropped to 6th place followed by Chase Elliott, Michael McDowell, Alex Bowman, and Kevin Harvick to make up the top 10. Bubba Wallace managed to take away P17 whereas Ag-Pro 300’s winner Noah Gragson went on to take P20. Chase Elliott tops the table with 368 points followed by Ryan Blaney with 347 points.
