Team Penske Racing “was the only choice” for Joey Logano in 2013, and it has been a fruitful journey since

Joey Logano wins at Vegas
Joey Logano secured his second cup championship title at Phoenix last Sunday. He marked himself in NASCAR history as one of the most successful Penske drivers and helped the team secure the IndyCar and Cup series double.
The No:22 driver’s journey to the top is filled with drama and excitement. Joey Logano moved out of his JGR ride after having a fallout with the team. At the same time, Penske was searching for a replacement for AJ Allmendinger, who was suspended for a failed drug test. Logano was offered the chance and seat, and he had no choice but to take it.
“It’s crazy to think it wasn’t even a decision I had to make. It was the only choice. There was no thought that went into it. It was all I had. It was an amazing opportunity when you think about it, being able to partner with a company like Shell and with Roger Penske. I was 23 years old. I didn’t know what the next steps were in my life a couple of weeks before that,” Joey Logano said.

Joey Logano on comparing his career with that of Jimmie Johnson

Following his second cup championship triumph, Joey Logano’s career has been compared to that of NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson. Logano is 32 years old and has had 31 cup race wins. The question around social media is whether Logano will surpass Johnson’s 7-cup championship and 83 race wins.
The seven championships seem to be a long shot for Logano, but he can still achieve the race wins record. At 32, Johnson had 40 race wins. So, if the Penske driver can extend his career with the team for 15 years and secure multiple wins per season, the record is achievable.
Logano is unsure whether he can compare his record to Jimmie Johnson’s. He said he feels okay about his career so far. He believes he should have won four championships instead of the two he has .
“I don’t know if I can compare to Jimmie Johnson. I appreciate it, but I don’t know. I feel OK about my career so far. I look at it and say we should have four championships instead of two,” Joey Logano said.
