‘The watermelon smash is silly,’ NASCAR Twitter reacts to Ross Chastain’s win at Talladega in the No:1 car

Ross Chastain showed what he is capable of in the Next-Gen car as the highs and lows of his Trackhuse No:1 car continuous. With his incredible win in Talladega climbing from down at p19 to finishing at the top edging Austin Dillon and Erik Jones he became only the second multirace winner of 2022 thanks to his first race win coming at COTA.

Ross Chastain showed his patience and determination in the Chaotic last lap of the race as the front runners spread themselves t make a pass on leaders; the watermelon man kept his cool and stayed at the bottom of the lane of the track and he was awarded the opportunity to take the win for himself after race leader Erik Jones was forced to block reigning champion Kyle Larson was making a move from outside.

Reacting to his win Ross Chastain said “Holy cow! We didn’t do anything! We just stayed down there!” alluding to the fact that he let the drivers around him do the dirty work and clear the path for his win.

NASCAR fans on Twitter were going crazy following Chastain’s win as they congratulated him for winning the challenging race. There were also fans throwing criticism at Kyle Larson for causing the huge crash at the end.
