The 2022 season which marks the inaugural season of Next-Gen cars had an amazing start to its proceeding in the 0.25 miles temporary track at the LA Memorial Colosseum as it for the first time in NASCAR history was moved to the west coast as it was held in Daytona in the past. The inaugural event saw No:22 Team Penske Racing driver Joey Logano coming out victorious ahead of Kyle Busch.

The event was a wide success for NASCAR as it attracted a whole lot of new fans to the event which coincided with NASCAR’s plan to attract the young population who has been going away from the sport back on track. The 6-hour entertainment extravaganza which also included musicals performed by rapper Ice Cube also helped the event to mark high ratings.

Now the premier Stock car racing organization has announced that the 2023 season clash Race will also be taking place at the LA Colosseum which s also the home ground football team US Trojans. NASCAR executives come forth calling it an easy decision considering the fact that the inaugural event was a success beyond their proposed one.

‘There’s a lot of opportunities out there,’ Ben Kennedy on why NASCAR decided to remain in the Colosseum

NASCAR executive Ben Kennedy acknowledged that it was a really easy decision to come back for the event as last time it hosted a lot of young fans, first-timers. Etc which produced a fun day overall. He went on to add that there are a lot of opportunities out there with the 0.25 miles tracks though the area is hard to build, there are some stadiums and pretty big events they could have with the season-opening clash.

It was really an easy decision to come back for 2023 after the success of this year. A ton of fans came out for that event. A lot of first-time fans. A lot of young fans. You saw the USC student section, and it was packed. Really just a fun day overall,” Ben Kennedy said.

There’s a lot of opportunities out there. It’s difficult to find a footprint to build a quarter-mile track, but it really opens the door to a lot of iconic stadiums and some pretty big events we could have,” Ben Kennedy added.

How NASCAR Twitter reacted to the announcement

There were mixed reactions from the fans about NASCAR deciding to continue with the LA clash instead of the regular Daytona clash, the way it used to be in the past. There were equal amounts of appreciation and criticism coming the way of the decision and most of the negative comments were by the parts of the community that calls NASCAR not change anything with the sport, as the sports is going through radical changes hoping for new markets.
