The 2023 Daytona 500 will officially mark the start of NASCAR’s 75th anniversary season.

NASCAR has announced that emerging country music sensation Breland will perform the national anthem ahead of the Great American Race, Daytona 500. The Platinum singer-songwriter has recently released his debut album named, Cross Country. He is hailed as the “symbol of Country music’s ongoing evolution”.
“We’re honored to have BRELAND lead us in the National Anthem before the 65th running of The Great American Race. His creative style and unique singing voice add an extra element of excitement to a momentous weekend of racing and entertainment,” says Frank Kelleher, President of Daytona International Speedway.
Breland his Platinum with his song “My Truck,” which also hit the No:1 in Spotify’s Global Viral 50 in 2019. He has since been part of music produced by Dierks Bentley, HARDY, Ingrid Andress, Keith Urban, Lady A, Mickey Guyton, and Thomas Rhett, which has earned him the name “King of Collab”

How NASCAR Twitter reacted to the Daytona 500 announcement
Fans had a mixed reaction to the selection of a comparatively lesser-known country Music stars selection as the performer. Some accused NASCAR of trying too much to be inclusive, while others appreciated the sanctioning body’s efforts.
2023 Daytona 500 Schedule
The 63ed edition of the prestigious race will start on Wednesday, February 15. The Qualifying runs for Sunday’s main race will be hosed that day. On Thursday, the Busch Light Duels will be held, and open charter entrants such as Jimmie Johnson and Zane Smith have their last chance at securing a spot in the 4 openings.
Friday will host the Truck series season opener. HMS driver Chase Elliott will be the driver in the spotlight as he starts the race. Saturday will witness the Xfinity series opener and the ARCA Mendes series opener. The Cup driver will go hard on each other in the final on Sunday. The races will be broadcasted live on Fox Sports network.
