NASCAR has announced the induction of Ryan Newman to the list of 75 greatest drivers of all time. Nicknamed the Rocket Man, the racing superstar was known for their ability to extract impressive pace in cars during qualifying. He has won in every NASCAR series he has raced in and is one of the greatest drivers never to win the Championship.
Newman has driven for some of the prestigious teams in his 21 years at the premier stock car racing scene. He started his career with Team Penske when they were fielding Dodge in 2000 part-time before landing a full-time ride with the team two years later. The 2002 Cup series Rookie of the Year produced his best season went on to drive Stewart Hass Racing and Richard Childress Racing Chevy and ended his career in Roush Fenway Racing in 2021
The best year of Newman’s career was 2003, his second full-time season in the Cup series. He scored 11 poles and 8 wins from 36 races, finishing P6 in the championship. He had never had the luxury of driving the fastest car consistently since that season, and it reflected in his result. 2003 remains his only multi-win season. He has scored 268 Top 10s and 51 poles from his 21-year-long carers (19 full-time seasons) that saw him start 725 races. His most prestigious win is the 2008 Daytona 500.
Newman also has a solid record in the lower-tier NASCAR championships. He has won 7 Xfinity series races from 64 starts in the second tier and has scored 35 top 10s and 12 poles. In the Truck Series, He has one win from 7 starts and has finished inside the top 10 in all of those races except a DNQ in 2021. He also has 4 Whelen Modified Tour race wins, and 4 ARCA series race wins. He has also won one IROC and one SRX race as well.

Some pointed out that he is among the most underrated drivers and deserves more respect.
