Richard Childress Racing No:8 driver Kyle Busch released a statement via his Twitter informing fans about his detention in Mexico in late January. He was arrested for carrying firearms that he is only allowed to carry in the USA. The incident occurred while he and his family returned to the States after vacationing in Mexico.
He had a pistol handgun in his bag, which was discovered during the search by the authorities. Busch claimed that he was unaware of Mexican laws and that the weapon was in his bag. The two times Cup champion fully corporated with the legal proceedings after he was caught. He apologized for the mistake that has caused inconvenience to many.
“In late January, Samantha and I enjoyed a several day vacation in Mexico. When departing the country, my handgun was flagged during routine screening at the airport. I have a valid concealed carry permit from my local authority and adhere to all handgun laws, but I made a mistake by forgetting it was in my bag,” Busch stated.
“Discovery of the handgun led to my detainment while the situation was resolved. I was not aware of Mexican law and had no intention of bringing a handgun into Mexico. When it was discovered, I fully cooperated with the authorities, accepted the penalties, and returned to North Carolina. I apologise for my mistake and appreciate the respect shown by all parties as we resolved the matter. My family and I consider this issue closed,” Busch added.
Multiple reports are sitting with the Mexican authorities that Busch might also is sentenced to 3.5 years in prison alongside his fine of 200 Thousand Pesos, the air around it is still o be cleared. NASCAR has confirmed that Busch will not be sanctioned for his action as they were informed about the whole proceeding prior.
