Hendrick Motorsports No:24 Chevy Camaro ZL1 is in the victory lane for the second time in two weeks.  Jeff Gordan’s successor William Byron secured yet another long-time win on Sunday, keeping the Chevy dominance of the 2023 season intact. Penske Racing’s Ryan Blaney finished P2 ahead of Tyler Reddick, who scored his first podium or 23XI Racing.

Alongside Byron, his teammate Kyle Larson was a race-win challenger for a second weekend in a row, while Stewart Hass Racing veteran Kevin Harvick made his way to the top after starting the race at P15.  If not for the two-tier pit strategy employed by other drivers, Harvick would have won the race before the final regular race restart. He had to start at P7 and never recovered.

On the final restart on the double over time, a three-way battle among Byron, Larson, and Blaney commenced. Reddick gave Byron a push that gave the HMS driver enough momentum to take the lead himself. Blaney and Reddick were also able to outrun Larson for podium finishes. Kevin Harvick finished the race at P5. Chase Elliott’s replacement Josh Berry scored his first Top 10 finish in the cup series.

Owe the last couple weeks to him(No:24 crew chief Rudy Fugle). He’s done a really good job strategy-wise, and execution-wise we’ve done a good job to put ourselves in those positions on the front row with a shot at the end. Thanks to everybody back at Hendrick Motorsports, putting together great cars, doing a great job. This is a big credit to them, engine shop, (team owner Rick) Hendrick, everybody,” William Byron said after the win.

The NASCAR nation on Twitter had a mixed reaction to the youngster’s win. Some fans claimed that the win was similar to Vega’s result and Byron really didn’t deserve it, while some disagreed. Fans took the opportunity to troll the drivers and NASCAR. There was criticism of overtime finishes making the whole race meaningless.
