The 75th-anniversary edition of the NASCAR cup series will be a feast to watch, and fans are eager to see the green flag of the season opener Daytona 500. Understanding Next-Gen cars made a difference in 2022 for the team, and it will be the same for the 2023 season. Teams need to use the data they collected this season, which marked the debut of 7th Gen cars.
Hendrick Motorsports, the most dominant team in NASCAR history, is chasing a few NASCAR milestones in 2023. The No:24 and No:48 teams aim to become charters’ exclusive members with 100 race wins. William Byron and Alex Bowman now have the responsibility for taking their teams the historic feat that two of the NASCAR greats couldn’t do.
The No:24 team is just three race wins away from reaching the 100-race win milestone. The charter was made famous by Jeff Gordan, one of the most dominant cup racers of all time. He won 4 cup championships with the 24-team and has visited the victory 93 times. Byron added four wins to the team and needs to secure three more to reach the record. Two of those wins came in 2022, his most productive season. He needs to best that next year.
Alex Bowman, on the other hand, has a bigger task on his hand. He is driving the No:48 charter made famous by a record seven times cup champion Jimmie Johnson. With the five-wins Bowman scored in his last two years, the team has 91 race wins. The Ally-sponsored driver has to score nine wins in 2023 to reach the milestone. It’s a big ask considering the increase in the competition following the introduction f Next-Gen cars.
