JGR bringing in Ty Gibbs to replace veteran Kyle Busch was one of the biggest decision made in the cup garage last year.

Ty Gibbs and Noah Gregson are rookie cup racers to look up to going into the 2023 cup season. Gibbs joined his grandfather’s Joe Gibbs Racing team replacing their most successful driver in history Kyle Busch. He took over the No:18 crew of Bush and will drive the No:54 car with them. He used the same number in his 2022 Xfinity series triumph.

There are two major obstacles ahead of Joe Gibbs in preparing his grandson for the premier division. One of them is helping Ty Gibbs and himself to move on from the death of Coy Gibbs, Joe’s youngest son, and Ty’s father. He, unfortunately, passed away just hours after the youngster Xfinity title win last year.

The second and most important professional barrier he faces is securing enough sponsors to support young Gibbs. JGR’s inability to find the right sponsor was one of the major reasons behind Kyle Busch’s JGR exit. Adam Stern of the Sports Business Journal reports that the No:54 team will receive “Strong capacity” backing from Monster Energy, Gibbs’s sponsor during his Xfinity series triumph.

He reports they will come on board as primary sponsors for multiple races as they did last season in the second-tier NASCAR series. Though Gibbs is notorious for his on-track antics and alleged entitled mentality, he is without a doubt one of the renowned drivers on the grid. The Rookie has more public exposure than few of the veteran NASCAR drivers. He is also an investment in the future for Monster Energy.

Ty Gibbs’s new sponsorship deals worry fellow TRD team 23XI Racing

23X1 Racing
Kurt Busch, Tyler Reddick, and Bubba Wallace

The team potentially needing to be worried by the new deal is in the TRD garage itself. It’s none other than Tyler Reddick and the No:45 crew of 23XI Racing. The Michael Jordan-Denny Hamlin-owned team was hoping that Kurt Busch’s sponsors would stay with the No:45 team and Reddick would bring in a new sponsor from RCR with him.

Reddick wasn’t able to bring any primary sponsors from RCR. Kyle Busch who replaced him at RCR has already signed multiacre primary sponsorship deals with the team. Kurt Busch sponsors are yet to announce or provide any solid reports that they will remain with the No:45 team. Monster energy is one of Kurt’s major sponsors.

It will not be hard for someone like Michael Jordan to reel new sponsors to the team. But he might need to have multiple primary sponsors other than a single sponsor being part of the team for multiple races. It will affect the stability of the team. The unofficial start of the season is still o a month away, and they have time to scout for suitable deals.
