Atlanta Motor Speedway will become the first track of the 2022 season to host the Next-Gen car for the second time as the reconfigured 1.54 miles track host Quaker State 400 Presented by Walmart this Sunday. The Intermediate track with Superspeedway characteristics will surely be producing one of the most exciting races of the season as the uncertainty over the remaining championship spots looms around the contenders.

Going into the track last weekend’s Race Champion at Road America the No:8 Richard Childress Racing Chevy Camaro ZL1 driver Tyler Reddick will be among the main contenders for the win at the track. Reddick is high on confidence following his first career win in the cup series and will be hoping to ride the momentum to secure his second win and seal his spot in the playoff without any doubt. His quest for the second winner will be heavily challenged by the winless drivers this season including his teammate, Austin Dillon

Tyler Reddick acknowledged that the track offers races in a way in which the drivers are zipping around the 1.5 miles in the upper 180s for the entire laps. He added that not a lot of the track doesn’t offer a lot of rest down the straightway and the corners being too long means a lot of pack racing in the track, which is really draining mentally. He added that he was surprised about the physical toll it had on him last time around.

We’re zipping around a mile-and-a-half at really high speeds, running upper 180s (miles per hour) for the entire lap. Not a lot of rest down the straightaways and the corners are so long and all the aggressive pack racing that we had really drains you mentally. I was surprised after that race by the physical toll that it had,” Tyler Reddick said.

Tyler Reddick went on to talk about the mental drain that normally goes on the superspeedway races and pointed out that Atlanta it also offers a physical drain as well. He added that he expects high temperature on the race day saying “Normally speedways like Daytona and Talladega are a mental drain but it seemed like Atlanta was both. It’s going to be hotter when we go back this weekend with our ALSCO Uniforms Chevrolet so it’s going to be even more of that,”.

Tyler Reddick went on to say that the superspeedway characteristics last time around were definitely an interesting and surprising one for him though they had a good outing. He added that they were unfortunate about the tire issue that got them out of the race and point out that the new improvements made to the track it’s going to be an interesting race to witness upon.

That was an interesting one in my opinion because it’s a speedway-type race like Daytona and Talladega. thought we were pretty good when we were there in March. Unfortunately, we cut a tire that took us out of that race. It’s going to be interesting to see compared to the first time that we were there.  It sounds like they made a number of improvements to the racetrack. It will be interesting to see how some of those details of the track have been changed,” added Tyler Reddick.
