Tyler Reddick wants “to win at other tracks in addition to the road courses,” which can put the team on the right track going into the playoffs

This Sunday marks the start of the 23rd round of the NASCAR Cup competition at the Michigan International Speedway, and with only four race days left in the 2022 regular season, it’s imperative that every driver performs at the top of their game. The winless drivers will be looking forward to gaining the crucial victory that may confirm their position in the playoffs this season as the competition between Chase Elliott and Ross Chastain for the regular season title heats up.
Tyler Reddick, the No:8 Chevy Camaro ZL1 driver for Richard Childress Racing will be among the main drivers to look up to in Michigan as he is going into the race with the momentum and confidence he had from the Indy Road course race win, which was his second win of the season, with the first one being the Road America win.
Reddick who already cemented his playoff spot is in a tricky situation regarding his relationship with RCR following his announced move to 23X1 Racing in 2024, so in order to have a peaceful and productive run next year, he needs to impress the team and make them believe he is worthy of full investment even if it’s for just one year. He will be craving to prove that point in the coming two non-road course races in Richmond and this weekend at Michigan by going hard for another win for the No:8 team.

Tyler Reddick acknowledged that the Michigan cup race is much different from what it was in Pocono as the surface condition changes as it gets older, which will have a huge impact on the race. He added that looking back at Pocono, the preferred lane is the middle but going into Michigan the resin will determine which might be the preferred lane.
“They may be the same size and shape but the surface age is much, much different. We’ll see if we use resin and if so, how much we use. That will certainly play a role in how race plays out. Looking back at Pocono, the preferred groove was the middle lane in the resin. It all depends on how well the track is prepared and how much resin is put on it,” Tyler Reddick said.
Tyler Went on to speak about how the two wins he has secured will set him up for the playoffs saying though it has put some valuable playoff points in their pocket they need to secure a win in another form of tracks than road courses. He went on to add that the No:8 will be working hard to secure more playoff points in the future which can ensure that his team is in the right place mentally and confidence-wise going into the playoff.
“It’s really nice that we’ve won two races this year because we now have more playoff points in our back pocket. We would like to win at other tracks in addition to the road courses but we’ll win where we can for now. We’ve certainly had the potential to win at a number of different places. We’ll just keep working really hard and hopefully in the coming weeks win some more races, get some more playoff points, and put our entire Guaranteed Rate team in a good place, mentally and confidence-wise, going into the Playoffs,” Tyler Reddick added.
Tyler Reddick’s RCR teammate and No:3 Camaro ZL1 driver Austin Dillon who is in desperate need of a win has acknowledged that he is expecting to have a strong car just like they did last year at Michigan, which has helped them to put forth good runs so that they might be able to get themselves into the payoff by securing the all-important win.
“We had a strong Chevy at Michigan International Speedway last year, and I expect the same this year. I’m really looking forward to the race. Michigan is a place we’ve run well at in the past, and it’s a place we’ve circled to try and win and lock ourselves into the NASCAR Playoffs,” says Austin Dillon.
