Denny Hamlin who sports the No.11 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing as a full-time NASCAR Cup Series competitor and he also co-owns a Cup Series team, 23X1 Racing with Basketball Hall of Famer Michael Jordan and Hamlin succeeded in this year’s historic Coca-Cola 600 as he took his second trip to Victory Lane at Charlotte Motor Speedway and posted another victory back in the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway and with just two top 5s and two top 15s in the rest of his season.

Denny Hamlin after winning the pole in the qualifier the day before managed to stay in the top 10 for most of what was to be known as the lengthiest Coca-Cola 600 by far and also managed to stay unharmed from most of the crashes despite being involved and he also missed the last pileup that brought up the final caution giving him the lead in the restart, this mishap took Joey Logano, Kyle Larson, Ross Chastain, and Austin Dillon out of contention for the victory.

Hamlin’s Joe Gibbs Racing teammate, the No.18 Toyota Camry driver, Kyle Busch also managed to stay out of the 18th caution with just two laps to go for the finish, Busch too barely got out and finished 2nd. In memory of the fallen Military Personnel and on account of the Memorial Day Weekend, Hamlin carried Lance Corporal Jared Marcus Schmitz’s name on his windshield as a tribute to his family and loved ones.

Denny Hamlin knew he had his teammate behind him and he felt good with his place on the restart, but as soon as Busch came on the inside, Hamlin was dedicated to not letting his potential win go in vain even if they ended up crashing because he wasn’t ready to let go off a chance at his first Coca-Cola 600 victory, and he was glad that he ended up winning.

“I liked my position on the restart and then when Kyle got to the outside and I hated my position I thought I was really at a bad spot, I am thinking alright here comes the commitment either I am going to drive in and I am not going to lift until either we crash or I clear, since you never know when you will be back in this position to win it again so luckily, I cleared,” said Denny Hamlin.

He further spoke about the difficulty he faced when he knew it was his teammate behind him but he went for it anyway assuming that Busch would’ve done the same, and he concluded by saying that he was just delighted to make that move and not end up crashing and he went on to claim his first Coca-Cola 600 victory.

“Way harder. Way hard to do that, I mean I am sure he would have done the same thing driving in really deep as well. That lap has to be the fastest lap in the race that I had so it was just incredible that things worked out the way they did and neither one of us was a part of the pitcher and all day and here with two to go, we put ourselves in that position,” concluded Denny Hamlin.

With Denny Hamlin now having two victories but a 17th place in the points table, he has to do well in his future outings to guarantee a spot in the playoffs.
