Chase Briscoe talking about his struggles mid-season, acknowledged that his car was the one that the team used to try out things the R&D section proposed to make the car better, which resulted in him missing out on some good finishes. He pointed out that though those modifications worked extremely well in the simulator, they had very limited application in enhancing their car’s performance in real life.

We felt like if we could find an advantage, yeah, we need to try to find it. For us, we were kind of the R&D car at SHR in a sense, and it wasn’t like we were trying off-the-wall stuff. We were trying stuff that was on paper, and the computer looked like it was going to be way better, and it wasn’t. What the simulator shows doesn’t always apply to real life, and for us, that’s kind of where we got off the path for a while,” Chase Briscoe said.

Chase Briscoe went on to say that they had good speed though out the season but lacked excursion. He pointed out that though some people have written them off from championship contention due to a lack of results, they have the speed to beat anyone if they are able to get the execution right in the playoff races.

We’ve had good speed. It’s just a matter of putting it all together. That’s where I feel like many people have probably written us off because we don’t have the results per se to show we should have a chance, but from a speed standpoint, I truly feel we have the speed; it’s just a matter of putting it all together,” Chase Briscoe added.

Chase Briscoe went on to speak about his playoff and the pressure he is in, as he pointed out that he has less stress now as he isn’t the guy to beat like he was in the 2020 Xfinity series. He points out that lesser concentred the teams are off him, the happier he is as it gives him the chance to go under the radar and try new but efficient things.

I like the no pressure side of it. I’ve been on the other side of it in the Xfinity Series, where you’re the guy, and it is pressure-packed in a sense because everybody expects you to be there. Nobody expects us to be there right now, and I kind of like that because you can go under the radar and do your own thing. There are not as many cameras on you and people talking about you. You can just go do your normal deal at the racetrack,” Chase Briscoe explained.
