NASCAR fans are getting excited for the upcoming race weekend at the World-Wide Technology Raceway as the race will mark the cup series debut on the track alongside Next-Gen cars and a number of drivers’ track debuts. The  St. Luis track is expected to produce fire worked as the races and days left for the 2022 playoffs are counting down with limited spots up for grabs.

Alongside the drivers to make their track debut will reigning cup champion Kyle Larson who is among the drivers that run the greatest number of races a season but never made an appearance on the track as his part-time runs in Xfinity and Truck series were limited. The No:5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy Camaro ZL1 driver will surely be someone to watch out for at the weekend like every other raceway.

Kyle Larson will be hoping to get back on winning ways in Illinois as the recent struggles he is facing in securing top finishes even though he is there at the top every race as the misfortunes are holding him back from a second win. Last weekend at Charlotte Larson was all set for a win leading the race after climbing all the way up only to lose all those spots after Austin Dillon took him out.

Kyle Larson said that he is yet to race at the Gateway though he has arced around the St. Louis area in tracks such as the Tri-City Speedway and Pevely Raceway. He added that he is excited about his debut though he is very unprepared as he hasn’t had any practice run before the allowed practice time in track or simulator. He went on to say that he will get the hang of the track hopefully in the practice runs and acknowledged he always wanted to race here.

Yeah, I haven’t raced here. I’ve raced at Tri-City (Speedway), which is 15 minutes from here. Pevely (Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55), which is probably 35 minutes; and then at the Dome. So, I’ve raced all around it, but never here. I’m excited. I haven’t had too much time at all to prepare. I hadn’t gotten to run any laps here to test or anything on a simulator,” Kyle Larson said.

“So, we’ll get the hang of it hopefully quickly here later on today. I’m excited about the opportunity. I’ve always wanted to race here, so it’s nice that we have Cup weekend here now,” Kyle Larson added.

Kyle Larson went on to say that one has to work up to the conditions in new tracks and the stock car racing all the drivers on the grid have means they can easily close the limits they will have when entering the track for the first time. He went on to add that he expects the good drivers to figure the track faster but added that you want to see the drivers struggling or gaining too much in the track. Kyle Larson acknowledged that he will probably break sooner and then creep up to it.

Usually, I think you work up to it just a little bit. All of us have a lot of experience in racing stock cars and going to new tracks I feel like you’re kind of close to those limits even right off the bat and then you can find them pretty quickly. I don’t think you’re going to see anybody struggling or anybody way better than the next person. I think we’re all really good drivers and we will all figure it out quickly. I’ll definitely probably try and break sooner than what I think is the potential and then kind of creep up to it,” says Kyle Larson.
