“We’re looking forward to getting to Michigan to take home a win” Austin Dillon after his day end in a mess at Indy

The measure of how happy Richard Childress Racing was at the Indianapolis motor speedway is a tough one as though Tyler Reddick drove the No:8 RCR Camaro ZL1 to the victory lane the fact that he has already committed his future to 23X1 Racing put some dents to their happiness. The team will also be disappointed at yet another bad day at the office for No:3 driver Austin Dillon.
Unlike his teammate, Reddick who started the race at pole Austin Dillon started the race all the way back at P29 and finish it at a disappointing P30. Austin Dillon had shown some improvement towards the end of the race and had all the hopes of finishing the race in the Top 10 if not for the mess he found himself in.
The crash between Austin Dillon and Erick Jones of Petty GMS was the reason for the final caution of the race that caused the race to go into overtime. Though the No:3 team was able to show determination and handwork on the track it wasn’t enough for the occasion but will be hoping to het back to the track at their coming outing at the coming four races as opinionated by Austin Dillon post-race.
Find out what Austin Dillon said
Austin Dillon acknowledged that his team has been working hard to get the team to a good finish at Indy from the P29 start they had which is a hard task considering the fact that the road course races offer a lot of mess to survive if you’re trying to climb to the front all the way from the back. He pointed out that they worked throughout the race in handling the car and it only came to life after the air pressure adjustment was made towards the end of the race.
“We started 29th today in our No. 3 BetMGM Chevrolet and my team worked all day long to salvage a good finish. It’s tough coming from behind at a road course because it’s so easy to get caught up in the messes. We worked really hard throughout the race to improve the handling of our BetMGM Chevy. We made an air pressure adjustment toward the end of the race and our car came to life,” Austin Dillon said.
Austin Dillon went on to say that they were running lap times as fast as the leader towards the end and were in the position to earn a top 10 finish if not for the mass chaos at the end. He pointed out that though his hop[es was shot down by the mess at the end in Indy he looks forward to getting the all-important win next week at Michigan.
“We were running lap times as fast as the race leader, and we were in a position to earn a top-10 finish but it was mass chaos at the end of the race. We ended up in some messes there at the end. We’re looking forward to getting to Michigan to take home a win,” Austin Dillon added.
Can Austin Dillon get into the playoffs?

Austin Dillon is in desperate need of a win to make it to the playoff as he has no chance left to make it to the postseason without one as there are already 14 different race winners this season and Ryan Blaney and Martin Truex Jr. already occupying the playoffs left for winless drivers with the superior position in the point table.
The path to the playoff is diminishing for RCR drivers day by day and if Dillon fails to replicate the impressive performance of his teammate Tyler Reddick who has already secured two cup wins this season it’s all done for the driver. Reddick’s wins showcase that it’s more to do with Austin Dillon not stepping up his game rather than the car and resources not being there for him.
The No:3 driver has 4 races on his hands to fight for the win and secure his post-season spots in the cup series and the winless run that he has been facing since 2020 March doesn’t do him any good. Austin Dillon has to step up his game to the Next-level if he is to get a win and the fact that there are road course races coming in might be an advantage for him as RCR has been producing strong road course cars.
