Denny Hamlin and the whole Joe Gibbs Racing garage were left to utter disappointment after he was stripped of his Pocono win, what would have been his third of the season, along with his JGR teammate Kyle Busch who finished P2. Bush and Hamlin were disqualified after unauthorized materials were found in the front facia of the No:18 and No:11 Toyota Camry of the veteran duo.

The first of its kind decision from NASCAR which has stripped the winner of its title since the disqualification of Emanuel Zervakis on April 17, 1960, at Wilson Speedway, North Carolina, for an oversized fuel tank. The recent penalty came on the back of together severity of the infraction NASCAR introduced at the beginning of the 2022 season and in the aftermath of the decision Both the driver was awarded P35 and P36 respective to their finishing order at the chequered flag after post-race inspection.

Chase Elliott, the No:9Chevy Camaro ZL1 driver for Hendrick Motorsports was given the win after the inspection though the No:11 already celebrated on the podium. This will be the third cup win for Elliott in the last 5 of his races, with the other two finishes being P2’s. Elliott can’t fully immerse in the celebration of his win, just after his win in the final SRX race of the season, as the results can be overturned by NASCAR if JGR is successful with their appeal, which is definitely considering it closer to playoffs.

The race which saw Hamlin equaling the most win record with legend Tony Stewart and setting the most Pocono to win record which all got reset by NASCAR after the was stripped of the win.  Tyler Reddick, the future 23X1 Racing driver, finished P2 following the reallocation of results for RCR while Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suarez got the P3. Christopher Bell was awarded the P4 with Kyle Larson behind him at P5.

Chase Elliott, Kyle Busch, and Denny Hamlin are three of the most divisive drivers when it comes to opinions regarding them by fans and it was the same case regarding the win and Twitter went into a frenzy. There were a lot of reactions which were either in support or against either of the drivers and the win with certain individuals supporting the decision while others opposed it strongly.
