Why did Richard Petty’s grandson sign with the new NASCAR team Faction46 for his full-time debut in 2024?

New NASCAR Truck Series team Faction46 has announced the signing of Richard Petty’s grandson Thad Moffitt for the 2024 season. He will mark his full-time NASCAR debut next year with the Chevy team. The announcement was made at the iconic Petty’s Garage in Level Cros at Noth Caroline during the Petty Museum Christmas Cruise.

He will be driving the No:46 Chevrolet Silverado in the year that will mark the 75th year of NASCAR racing for the Petty family. Moffitt, the son of Petty’s daughter is a fourth-generation racer. Lee Petty started it all for the family in 1949 and he was succeeded by his son Richard Petty. After Richard, his son Kyle Petty and late grandson Adam Petty also joined the sport, before Moffit.

The youngster while talking about the decision to join the team after a full-time run in the Trans Am series, pointed out that it has been an opportunity he has been waiting for a long time and is thrilled to be part of the new project. He is pretty pumped to finally start his career in the third tier and to grow as a racer.

This past year, I had a full season in the Trans Am Series, but I always wanted to have the opportunity to race full-time in NASCAR and begin in the Truck Series. Faction46 is owned by Lane Moore, an owner growing retail chain Venture Food Store. He has over 800 stores in key NASCAR markets and with the racing ventures, he is hoping to market his product more efficiently to the people.

The Niece Motorsports-backed team has some big ambitions going into their first full-time season. He rejoices in the opportunity to race with the Petty family and their primary goal is to earn the respect of other NASCAR teams, in a series that he deems offers the most exciting opportunities for the rookies as well as veterans.

I’ve enjoyed working and getting to know the Petty family and Thad. It all accumulated to this day and the beginning of Faction46 and what I hope to be a long stay in NASCAR. The Truck Series offers some of the best, most exciting racing for both young and seasoned drivers. I’m proud to be part of the series with Thad as we earn the respect of the other teams.
