Kyle Busch who drives the No.18 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing as a full-time Cup Series contender and also competes for part-time driving the No.51 Toyota Tundra for Kyle Busch Motorsports in the Camping World Truck Series and he appears to be elated as NASCAR returns to Sonoma Raceway this week for the Toyota Save Mart 350 and he thinks it will be fun as he was always fond of road-courses and he hopes to stay in the lead and possibly take his car to the victory lane at Sonoma in the Next-Gen car.

His history with the track speaks for itself as he won the races twice back in 2008 and 2015 but the latter one was a remarkable win as he had to have one win to have a chance at qualifying that season and he did as he passed Jimmie Johnson for a win after missing 15 events because of an injury. He has had an excellent season so far with a win at Bristol Motor Speedway and acquired six top 5s and eleven top 10s with a P2 at last week’s inaugural Enjoy Illinois 300 at the World Wide Technology Raceway.

Kyle Busch was questioned about what this road course means to him and he responded by saying that this is a track where he enjoys racing on and that he also has a lot of history with this track back in the day he also spoke about a few provocations the track lays out for the drivers and overall, his opinion of the track will always stay the same no matter what.

“Sonoma is a neat place. It’s a cool area to go to up into Wine Country. I’ve always enjoyed road-course racing. Even when I was in Legends cars, I would enjoy going up there during the days that I raced there. Now that I’m on the Cup tour, it’s cool to go there every June. It’s a fun racetrack. The cars get grouped a lot closer together there than at Watkins Glen, where it’s more wide open,” said Kyle Busch.

He further added by speaking about the possible threats the track possesses for the drivers speaking about the amount of braking required on a few turns and also the wheelspin occurring when trying to get past someone and these factors are the reason racing at the Sonoma Raceway can be infuriating at times but in the end, he is sure that there’ll be a lot of different things given the entry of the Next-Gen car and he hopes to win yet again.

“Braking there is a lot tougher getting into turn four, turn seven, and especially turn 10. You go to pass somebody and hit the gas and all your rear tires want to do is spin and you can’t get alongside that guy. Sonoma can be frustrating at times, as well. Sort of a whole new ballgame this year with this car and it’s possible we might be battling some different things. We just want to get in a position to win and then see how the strategy plays out,” concluded Kyle Busch.
