“You’ll see a lot of parity among the cars in…a place like Loudon” Tyler Reddick on his first race with RCR following the shocking 23X1 announcement
Tyler Reddick
Tyler Reddick and Denny Hamlin dropped a bombshell in mid-week when they announced the former getting contracted to race for 23X1 Racing, a team co-owned by Hamlin and Michael Jordan, from 2024 when his contract with Richard Childress Racing comes to an end. The decision did make a lot of heatwaves in the NASCAR community as it was unexpected as well as the for majority of the community it was an ill-timed announcement as well.
Tyler Reddick will race for RCR for the first time since the announcement this coming Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway dubbed the “magic mile”. The No:8 Camaro ZL1 driver will be looking forward to cementing his playoff spot with another win with RCR while the team also has priorities going into the race with the main one being getting Austin Dillon, their No:3 car piolet, into the playoffs.
Tyler Reddick on his New-Hampshire outing
Tyler Reddick pointed out that the RCR team had really good speed at Gateway which gives him confidence as he points out that he has both speed and confidence with him going into NHMS saying “We had good speed at Gateway as well and that gives me confidence, too. Looking at that speed should not be a problem. Confidence has been high all year long but especially at these flat tracks, it seems like we have plenty of speed”.
Tyler Reddick went on to say that the race day at NHMS will be all about having an error-free run as you can’t afford to make mistakes at the track as it’s hard to get back from it once you go that way. He pointed out that normally the 300 laps race gives drivers some opportunities to rectify mistakes they make at the beginning but the way the race flows on the track means there isn’t any scope for a driver without the right execution and the right setup to get the win.
“It’s all about putting the entire race together, from the start to the finish. If you make mistakes in New Hampshire, they’re hard to bounce back from. Normally with 300 laps, that sounds like a long time, but the way the race flows and how it plays out really demands excellence. It’s about executing all day long and making the right adjustments all day long,” Tyler Reddick said.
Tyler Reddick went on to say that the track has the potential to change with respect to the resins on it as he finds it as a factor that can affect the racing. He said that the straightway at the track was long with flat corners making the corner entry important and breaking essential. He added that there usually always seem to have a few different ways to get around the corner on offer on race day.
“The track could potentially change quite a bit whether we have resin on the track or not. That could play a factor in the race and how it goes. The straightaways are long at this track and the corners are flat. It’s a one-mile racetrack but it races somewhat like a short track with how you break the corner up and how to corner entry is important. It always seems like there are a few different ways to get around a place like Loudon,” Tyler Reddick added.
Tyler Reddick went on to say that there will be a lot of parity among the cars at Loudon especially the cars which are in the top five. He explained that some of the drivers will be running really fast on entry while some might set for the exist so it will be essential for the No:8 team to get the set-up ready for either of these plans.
“You’ll see a lot of parity among the cars in to get around a place like Loudon. You’ll see a lot of parity among the cars in the top five. Some upfront will be running really fast on entry while some are set up for the exit. We’ll just have to figure out where we need to be with our Guaranteed Rate Chevrolet and go from there,” Tyler Reddick explained.
