Racer Greg Biffle set for a surprise return to NASCAR Cup Series in 2022 – Reports

Greg Biffle

American NASCAR driver Greg Biffle parted ways with Roush Fenway back in 2016 after spending most of his career with the organization. However, the last year turned out to be his last season in the NASCAR Cup Series and capped off a successful 14-year career totalling 19 wins.

Biffle’s most successful wins even included his victory at Daytona in the 2003 Coke Zero Sugar 400. Meanwhile, some rumours have swirled in recent weeks about Biffle possibly returning to Cup action in 2022 on that same track.

On Friday, news of the 46-year-old’s potential return picked up steam when a report indicated that he was recently seen getting fitted for a seat at Richard Childress Racing and linked him to a specific team.

Recently, Lee Spencer of racinboys.com added a little fuel to the fire on Twitter about Biffle’s possible return to a specific team this season with her tweet.

Hearing there were @gbiffle sightings at @RCRracing getting his seat fitted for the No. 44 Chevrolet… #NASCAR,” she wrote on the micro-blogging site.

Biffle competed in Trucks and SRX since leaving NASCAR

For those who don’t know, Biffle never officially retired from the Cup. Like so many drivers in the past, he faded out of NASCAR with utter silence. However, he wasn’t done racing as several years later showed up with the Stadium Super Trucks and he raced for a couple of seasons.

In 2019, he even returned to NASCAR and the Truck Series with Kyle Busch Motorsports, where he won at Texas, and later went on to finish 19th with GMS Racing in 2020.

In 2021, the Vancouver, Washington-born shifted gears and renewed his friendly rivalry with Tony Stewart, competing for a couple of times in Stewart’s SRX Series. Hence, all of his post-Cup Series appearances showed that Biffle could still wheel it and remain competitive.
