This weekends’ will see 2021 NASCAR Cup Champion Kyle Larson making his Indy 500 debut with Arrow McLaren with the help of Rick Hendrick. Meanwhile there is another Kyle in the NASCAR garage who has been dreaming of doing the same for many years, but has never been able to full fill it.

It has long been dreaming of two times NASCAR Cup champion Kyle Busch to attempt the double duty like his brother Kurt Busch. He came close to doing it in 2017, but his then Cup team owner Joe Gibbs refused to let him race in the event. Now with the new team and owner at Richard Childress Racing he is hoping to do it again.

RCR owner Richard Childress is open to seeing his driver race in the Indy 500 as well. He recently said that he has talked with the driver about the same in the past and with the right team and opportunities, he is ready to give Kyle Busch the chance. He asserted that the decision is to be made by Busch and he will support it at any cost.

We’ve talked a little about it. The right opportunities, the right team, the right situation, we would do it and I’m sure Kyle would do it. It’s Kyle’s call to make that decision but I would support it for sure.
Richard Childress told NBC Sports.

Kyle Busch wants to emulate his brother Kurt Busch

Recently, Kyle Busch talked about the bucket list races he has and admitted that the Indy 500 is one of them. He saw Kurt Busch having a great time on his debut year in Indy 500 and wants to try the double duty himself.

I would say two bucket list races for me is the Indy 500. I'd love to give that a shot and give that a go, see how it goes. My brother did it once, he was pretty successful at it so I'd like to try it myself.
Kyle Busch said.

With RCR Kyle Busch does have a better shot at doing the double duty and with the boss in line, they now have to find the right opportunity. Larson getting all the attention and potentially having good race tis Sunday will definitely open more doors for Busch.
