The 2024 NASCAR Cup season has been impressive for the Chevy giants Hendrick Motorsports. They were successful in helping all four of its drivers to make it to the playoffs on win and all of them are close to making it into the R-8, with the race at Roval left in the R-12. With their main rivals Joe Gibbs Racing and Team Penske in a tough spot, HMS are in the prime spot to win the title.

But their Hall of Fame boss Rick Hendrick is cautious as he understands there are some crazy things that might happen, capable of ruining their season. He confirmed that if HMS is able to get at least three of their drivers into the next round, it would be a massive success. Hendrick also pointed out that his drivers Kyle Larson and William Byron are in a good spot in the title battle.

I hope we can make it, but crazy things happen, we know. And so, you know, we’ve had a good year, and if we get them all four in or three in, it’s been a great year. Got William [Byron] in, so I think [Kyle] Larson’s in a pretty good spot. So, we’ll just have to see.

Rick Hendrick told Bob Pockrass.

At the moment, 2020 Cup champion Chase Elliott is the only racer from the team potentially at the risk of not making it into the penultimate round of the playoffs. He just has a 13 points advantage to the cutline and his not so impressive form in the road courses in the Next-Gen era is a concern for the No:9 HMS Chevy crew going into Charllotte.

Chase Elliott has done extra sim-work for Roval

Roval was re-configured by SMI, with some designing changes made to the corners, which some claims are done to cause more chaos, and it is going to be a tough challenge for the racers. Elliott is doing extra preparation for it by using sim more, approaching it as a new track.

I’ve been kind of approaching it as a new track in my prep. Have some time at sim and just trying to really just memorize the track and what little bumps are here or where or what typically those track scans are. That’s probably one of the best things about sim that a driver can go and get familiar with is the track layout, the surface content, roughness, and so on.

The No:9 Chevy fans and his crew will be hoping that this approach to race will help the ex-champion to maximize his point finish on Sunday. If he can avoid the wrecks and score a respectable finish, he will easily make it into the next round. But it won’t be easy considering the chaos predicted by many for the event.
