“He steps it up a level!” ex-racer reveals how Joey Logano is a major reason behind Team Penske’s Next-Gen era dominance
Three times NASCAR Cup champion Joey Logano was credited for the success of Team Penske Racing in 2024 and Next-Gen era by Rick Mast.

NASCAR introduced the Next-Gen cars in the 2022 season with the hopes of making the competition much closer and reduce overall financial burden on the teams. They have accomplished most of the goals, but the championship table depicts another story. Team Penske Racing has won all three drivers’ championship in the last three seasons.
Joey Logano won the maiden title of the 7th Gen era, followed by Ryan Blaney in 2023 and then Logano winning the title again in 2024. One of the common features of the three wins is the fact that the Ford team peaked in the playoff unlike other sides on the way to the titles win. Ex-racer Rick Mast recently broke down this dominance in his show for Kenny Wallace’s YouTube channel.
He then went onto discuss the reason behind the dominance and pointed out that he personally thinks Joey Logano is the difference maker at Penske. He elevates his own level when the pressure is on his shoulders and it also demands a step up in performance from his crew, helping them to thrive.
Joey Logano claims the competition is peaking in the Cup series
The dominance of Team Penske isn’t doing to last according to the latest comments from Joey Logano. The Next-Gen cars have made the competition tough for everyone involved and with everyone going for wins, it becoming much harder to have an advantage on the track.
The comments from Joey Logano seems to be coming from the fact the Chevy and Toyota teams are going to go all out from next season to end the dominance of Penske. It would be interesting to see if the Ford giants can again find their strides when it matters the most in 2025 to win the title.
