The last two NASCAR Cup weekends have been a nightmare for 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace, who started the season strong with four back-to-back top-10s. After finishing P36 last race day at Martinsville after a controversial clash with Carson Hocevar, Michael Jordan’s racer has found himself in the hot-seat.
Ex-NASCAR Cup Series driver Rick Mast is the most recent name to call out the Toyota driver for his Martinsville misjudgement and has given him the perfect advice to get his season back on track. He urged the TRD racer to adopt Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s mindset of and get his priorities straight during the races.
One of the best that was Earnhardt Sr. I mean, he was one of the best cerebral, you know, smart. The way the points are structured, now you know you can’t worry about winning a race again and getting in, you got to worry about finishing the race…it’s just a matter of getting his mind right.
Rick Mast said via his podcast.
Further talking about the point, the racing legend explained how Bubba Wallace lost his cool due to regular racing incident with Carson Hocevar. Not having a clear mind ended up costing him a massive point paying day, dropping him from P3 to P11 in the table. The ex-racer also confessed that he has been in the same spot as the 23XI racer in the past and has made the same mistakes at Martinsville.
Bubba got riled up because Carson put him three wide on a restart and put him in a bad spot, and Bubba didn’t like that…I’ve lost my temper a bunch of times at Martinsville and probably done stuff like this too.

Kevin Harvick called out Bubba Wallace over Martinsville clash
Talking about the clash in the Happy Hour podcast, 2014 Cup champion Kevin Harvick pointed out that Bubba Wallace lost his cool while racing Carson Hocevar and it was disappointing the TRD racer tried to have payback out of frustration. It not just ruined the No:23 team’s race, but also the race of multiple cars involved in the incident.

Bubba just lost his cool. He didn’t like the move that Carson put on him early in the race, and then kind of lost his cool there and wound up crashing the 77 and himself and several others, so unfortunate for all the other guys that are involved.
Kevin Harvick said.
Furthermore, he highlighted how much points Wallace has lost and how he is too far away from being the second-best racer of the season he was in the first four events of the season. The pressure of not matching his teammate’s dream run of four Cup wins is clearly weighing on the sold black driver in the Cup.
It wasn’t long ago we were talking about Bubba and Tyler being 1-2 in the points – Bubba’s 11th in the points. When you look at that, and you’re the guy who is 11th in the points, and your teammate’s the guy who’s won four races and leading the points, that’s a lot of pressure.
Kevin Harvick added.
The comments from Kevin Harvick are on point and shows how pressure can ruin the races for even the most experienced. It would be interesting to see how long it will take for the veteran to get over the poor streak and get back into the championship top-10.
