Since joining Trackhouse Racing in 2022, Ross Chastain has established himself as one of the most promising drivers on the grid. He has won five races in his three seasons with Chevy team, has been a regular contender for victories and got the best championship point table finish of P2 (2022 season) to his name.

Unlike in the past, when Ross Chastain was a midfield team driver racing for points, he has settled into a new normal. He and his crew are no longer fighting for points or top 10 finishes, instead their battles are now with race victories, as well as championship on their mind. His popularity has increased over the last three season, making him a crowd puller and the face of Busch Light.

Like, I’m the Busch Light guy. Year two now, and embracing driving the No. 1 car in NASCAR, it’s – this is normal. We’re gonna hopefully do this for a long time.

Ross Chastain said via 5GOATS.

All these changes have made him to evolve and he has admitted isn’t the same person as he was last season. This evolution has been necessary, as he and the team had no option by to evolve in order to thrive on the track. He pointed out that the competition business they are in offers only two options either evolve or die.

It’s definitely evolving, and I’m not the same person I was last year. I’m definitely not the same person I was a few years ago, and same with the team. They’re not the same. We’re in a competition business, so it’s, it’s evolve or die kind of as far as being competitive.

Ross Chastain reveals his fitness journey with Chevy

In the same interview, Chastain also shared how he became a fit racer since joining Chevy. He opted in for the Chevy’s sponsored Wise Optimization program, ran by ex-racer Josh Wise, and since them has terraformed his fitness. Chastain is proud of his progress with the program over the years.

If you opt-in, then you can be in Josh’s program and you work it through Chevy, but he’s gotten me to a point where I cycle and run, and got me down to a 5:30 mile…Like, at 31 years old last year, 31 years old. … But you know, I’m proud of my [time] because when I met Josh, I could run, like, a 7-minute mile and I’ve crept it down.

Ross Chastain said.

The comment from Chastain shows how much he is working behind the scenes to remain as one of the top racers on the track. It would be interesting to see if he can redeem himself for missing out on the playoff in 2024 and perform on the level he should in 2025.
