The 2025 NASCAR Cup series season so far hasn’t been on the elite level as it should for Ross Chastain, as he barely made it to the R-12 on points. It was not just the execution and the car that was a major challenge for the Florida born racer as the Goodyear tires with massive fall off kept the racers on their toes.
After surviving the chaos, at P18, as the best Trackhouse Racing Chevy of the day, Ross Chastain shared his thoughts and concerns about the tires used. He admitted that he didn’t know what happened during the race, with the tire affecting the overall dynamic of the race and pointed out that it didn’t make any sense for him.
I don’t know. I don’t know what just happened. So, I’ve gotta go back and look at this because it doesn’t make sense.

In the same conversation the No:1 Chevy driver was asked about his performance on the day and he declared that they raced as best as they could. He then admitted that that the duels with non-competitive cars made racing tough for him, as the aggression they shows were often was on the edge of the acceptable level.
We did it. That’s what we did. There was chances tonight to get spun out, there was such a difference in speed, and cars that aren’t competitive with us that were better tonight with all the circumstances, and they’re just blasting my back bumper off.
Ross Chastain added.
He pointed out that he was lucky enough get out of all that chaos without getting wrecked, that would have cost him points and maybe the playoffs promotion to the second round as well in the process. Hence, he feels both happy and relieved to get back the Chevy back to Trackhouse garage without much damage.
You know, this is their couple of races a year in these cars, it’s just crazy. Yeah, good to survive because we could have been wrecked a dozen times tonight.
Ross Chastain asserted.
Ross Chastain is Trackhouse Racing and Shane van Gisbergen’s priory for R-12
Trackhouse Racing had two drivers in the playoffs in the R-16, Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen. They now have just one left after SVG’s failure to take advantage of the 22 bonus points he acquired. So, going to R-12 the team’s priorities has changed.

In a conversation, the Kiwi racer pointed out that the team has set the goal of helping Chastain make into the final for the remaining weeks. SVG can play a significant role by not just helping the racer during the race, but also helping him with the ROVAL car set up.
Yeah, I’ll do everything I can prep-wise, help him [Chastain] study, and now the priority for our team is to get the 1 through to the next round and to the finals. I’m happy to help him.
Shane van Gisbergen said.
The three race weeks in the R-12, New Hampshire, Kansas and ROVAL is going to be a major challenge for Ross Chastain and his crew. They have to identify their weakness and work on execution to stay in the championship battle.
