The 2024 season so far hasn’t been great for Trackhouse Racing Ross Chastain. The No:1 Chevy driver currently sit at P16 in the championship table with just a mere 27 points cushion after the early crash at Pocono Raceway. He now has found himself in a situation where he no longer can afford to have a bad weekend with just five races left in the regular season.
Ross Chastain came into the race in the tricky triangle with the hopes of continuing his consistent runs while giving a tough challenge for the win. But he failed to do both and ended up scoring P36, his worst finish of the season. One lap 52 of the race, he just spun out all of the sudden on turn-3 and was forced to DNF due to damages to his Chevy.
Ross Chastain is wondering how he spun out and couldn't catch the car as it started to snap on him. Obviously won't help him as a winless driver hoping to get into the playoffs on points. pic.twitter.com/d32K8PRBNA

While talking about it after the race, Chastain admitted that he is really worried about how he just flat out spun out in the turn, which a driver racing in the premier division shouldn’t be doing. He seemed really disturbed with the way he DBFed and the added pressure of playoff double because of the finish.
I’m just worried about how I spun out. I’m a racecar driver in the Cup Series, I shouldn’t be doing that. You don’t see us do that too often, so when I do it myself, I’m as surprised as everyone else. … I just flat spun out. We’re all sliding around but I just spun out.Ross Chastain told Fox Sports.
Ross Chastain is frustrated with himself after the crash
While further talking about the incident and the consequences, Ross Chastain admitted that that he is frustrated with himself over how the race turned out for him. He is looking to move from it as there is nothing, he can do about it other than to learn from it.
It felt like it happened in slow motion. Yeah, obviously frustrated with myself, but can’t take it back now.Ross Chastain said.
With just a handful of races left in the season, Chastain and his Trackhouse crew will be looking forward to having a strong run towards a race win. The team not only has to be concerned about Chastain as his teammate Daniel Suarez isn’t also in a good form, fortunately he does have more time since he has secured a playoff spot with his Talladega win.
