The NASCAR Cup Series return to Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval three years turned out to be one of the dramatic races of the season. The Brickyard 400 featured multiple wrecks and crashes sending the race to overtime where Kyle Larson emerged victories while many drivers went home furious and frustrated.
Defending Cup series champion Ryan Blaney was one of the drivers that flew home irritated. He was rating on team radio towards the end of the race over caution and red flag ruining his chances at the win. The Penske driver was also disappointed with Spire Motorsports rookie Carson Hocevar, who was involved in an incident with him.

He was furious because of the Jimmie Johnson–Joey Logano wreck on the final stage caused by Carson Hocevar’s attempt to make the race three wide. The No:77 Chevy made contact with the No:12 Ford, which send the No:84 Toyota to the wall, which eventually collected the No:22 Ford. Blaney claims that Hocevar often wrecks tons of cars doing such “dumb s**t.”

77’s on the bottom and he just tried to jam it in the middle lane from the bottom, so you’re just shoving. He just shoved me in the left rear getting in the corner. There’s no room. But it doesn’t surprise me with that guy. He does dumb s*** all the time and he wrecks a ton of cars, and he got away with it. There’s just no room here.Ryan Blaney told Bob Pockrass.
Carson Hocevar claims he had a good race at Indy
The rookie driver finished the race P12 amidst all the drama and was really impressed with how the day turned out for him. Though the late caution caught the team off guard, they had a solid car on Sunday and the rookie believes he maximized the potential of his Chevy.
It was just hard to keep on the right end of it with fuel strategy and everything, but I think we did a really good job. The yellow caught us off guard, but I think that was the difference maker in us making it. Our No. 77 Zeigler Auto Group Chevy was super strong, and to be able to capitalize from Saturday was big… We put together a really good day for the No. 77 team.Carson Hocevar said.
While it was another impressive performance from the rookie, he needs to do a review of his racing style at the moment. He is making a lot of unwanted enemies in the garage which might come to bite him down the road in crucial time, but at the same time that doesn’t mean he should stop making risky moves. Hocevar just has to be bit careful with his risk-taking.
