The defending Cup champion Ryan Blaney came into the playoff Round of 8 opener with the hopes of continuing his impressive form. But it was a disaster from the start with the wreck at practice and having to start dead-last in the back-up car. But he had some things to be happy about, as his teammate Joey Logano secured the race win and a place in the championship-4.

Ryan Blaney played a solid role in the No:22 car of Joey Logano getting into the victory lane. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell in his post-race interview asserted that the No:12 Ford blocked him to help his teammate win the race. The claims from the No:20 Toyota driver struck a nerve with the Blaney.

In his post-race interview addressing the comments from Bell, Blaney pointed out that he wasn’t blocking for anyone, and the former could have passed him if he was fast enough. He insists that Bell could have easily overtaken him, if he was a bit faster and more added that the No:20 car was a half a lap race.

20 didn’t get to me until the last corner. I don’t know what the hell you think I’m blocking for. I’m running the top, I’m not taking anyone’s air away. He should have maybe got to the 22 quicker, he would have been able to pass me pretty easy. But he was half a lap too late.

We’re still alive. It’s definitely not the best of days. It was just a rough weekend overall. I don’t know what to do about it, to be honest with you, running over something and having a hole in it in practice.

Ryan Blaney said.

He needs to do everything he possibly can in the upcoming races at Homestead Miami and Martinsville to make sure he has a place in the championship-4. It will be tough without winning a race and fans are waiting to see what will happen.
