JGR star Ty Gibbs took home a million dollars on Sunday after winning the NASCAR in-season tournament. The No. 54 driver defeated Ty Dillon in the final round during the iconic Brickyard 400. Gibbs showed a gesture of respect towards Dillon following his victory.
Ty Dillon had made waves throughout the in-season tournament this year. The Kaulig Racing star had knocked Denny Hamlin out in the first round. Dillon continued to surprise the field as he made his way to the final round. Though it was Ty Gibbs who won the tournament after finishing in P21 at Indianapolis while Dillon could only secure 28th place.
Gibbs revealed that he will donate $10,000 out of the $1 million prize money to Ty Dillon’s charity of choice. The JGR star asserted that he was honored to gain the iconic black-and-gold trophy, a commemorative ring and a wrestling belt for becoming the in-season champion of 2025.
I’m going to give $10,000 to wherever Ty Dillon wants to choose to give to charity… Super cool. Very honored to be in this position. Thank you to all of NASCAR and TNT Sports for allowing us to be able to do this. It’s awesome to win this and super cool to be in this position.
Ty Gibbs told TNT Sports.
Moreover, Ty Gibbs confessed that he wasn’t actually focused on winning the tournament this time around. The Toyota driver had been rather casual over the knockouts during the first couple of weeks. It was only in the latter stages of the tournament when Gibbs realized that he had a good shot of becoming the winner.
It’s super cool. I didn’t really focus on it for the first three weeks, I would say. Our goal, of course, is to go in and do the best we can. The last week and this week is kind of where I started to pick it up, okay, well, if we beat these guys, we can go win a million dollars. It’s a really cool deal that they put on, and hopefully they keep doing it.
Ty Gibbs added.

Ty Dillon left disappointed over in-season tournament defeat
Ty Dillon had impressed the entire field in the past few weeks. It seemed that the Kaulig Racing driver could pull off a massive upset and win the tournament for the first time, leaving veterans in the dust. Unfortunately, Dillon had to go back home after coming extremely close to his goal.

The Chevrolet driver was disappointed after losing to Ty Gibbs. However, this was just part of racing. Dillon admitted that the unpredictability of the in-season tournament made it so exciting. Though, he was not happy to not put up a fight against the JGR star in the final round. Ty Dillon cursed his poor start as a reason behind his defeat.
Disappointing, obviously, but things like that happen. You can’t predict everything. I think that’s what’s been so cool about this In-Season Challenge for everybody. I just hate that we didn’t get to give him a run for it there… And I think if all things are equal (and) we don’t knock the nose off on that restart, [we’re] probably sitting in a good position, put a lot of pressure on him and race him out pretty solid.
Ty Dillon said, as quoted by Crash.net.
While Ty Dillon could not get hold of the million dollar prize money, the tournament was undoubtedly a positive for the Kaulig Racing star. Dillon proved to the entire NASCAR field that he can even outperform champions like Denny Hamlin under the right circumstances. This will increase his worth in the championship, potentially paving the way for some great opportunities in the future.
