Tyler Reddick joined 23XI Racing, the team owned by NBA legend Michael Jordan and NASCAR veteran Denny Hamlin, in 2023. Since then, the 29-year-old has raced in some iconic paint schemes, promoting Jordan’s brands. However, the latest paint scheme on the No. 45 car will have a special meaning, with the name of Reddick’s wife, Alexa DeLeon placed on the car.

The new paint scheme will be used for the Cup Series race at the Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. 23XI Racing will be honoring the women of NASCAR with this design ahead of Mother’s Day on May 11, 2025. The name of Reddick’s wife will be written above the door in place of his name, a symbol of gratitude to the support he has received from DeLeon over the years.

This gesture would undoubtedly be appreciated by fans. However, Tyler Reddick was clueless whether Alexa DeLeon will be comfortable having her name on the car. The 29-year-old recalled that he had no idea how his wife would react when the team first told him about the livery idea.

A month or two ago (they) came to me and said they were going to do this scheme and what did I think about having her name on the car, would she be comfortable with that. Truthfully, I didn’t know, but of course I still said, ‘That would be great.’

Tyler Reddick told RACER.

Luckily for Tyler Reddick, Alexa DeLeon was overwhelmed to see her name on the No. 45 car. A clip posted by 23XI Racing on X showed that DeLeon was left speechless by this gesture from her husband. Certainly, DeLeon and other NASCAR spouses in the field became a pillar for drivers, who help them through thick and thin. Having their name as a symbol even for just one race is a good step.

The rest of the car is painted in a diamond-esque color scheme with prominent Air Jordan branding, celebrating forty years since the release of the Air Jodan 1.

Alexa DeLeon delighted to be ‘recognized’ in Tyler Reddick’s latest paint scheme

After the car unveiling, DeLeon opened up on her feelings. The 30-year-old was surprised to be thought of as a key person in NASCAR and not just at 23XI Racing. Alexa DeLeon admitted that she felt great to be recognized for the hard work she does behind-the-scenes, not only as a partner, but also as a mother.

That was a total surprise and I never thought I would be on a car. But to be thought of and included, not just with the women on the team, but in NASCAR, that’s a surprise. Yes, there is a lot that I do behind the scenes, but that comes with being a mom and a wife.

Alexa DeLeon told RACER.

Additionally, the blingy diamond design on the car won over the child in Alexa DeLeon. She further stated that she loved the rest of the black and red colors as well, which form the basis of Michael Jordan‘s Air Jordan brand.

You don’t expect to get recognized for that on the car. But I do love the crystals by my name … 10-year-old Alexa loves it. I love the classic colors (black and red). I love classic Jordans. So, I’m glad they paired it with that.

Alexa DeLeon added.

Certainly, Tyler Reddick’s family has a lot to look forward to in Texas. All eyes will be on the No. 45 car, which will not only honor all the women in NASCAR, but carry his wife’s name throughout the weekend. Motorsport has been dominated by men since its inception.

As such, it becomes even more important for series like NASCAR to ensure it acknowledges all the women involved for their hard work. This will set the right stage to encourage more girls to take up racing at an early age.
