NASCAR heads to Iowa Speedway this weekend. Pressure has been mounting on Kyle Busch who is yet to secure a spot in the Playoffs. The RCR veteran needs a race win in the final few races to make it to the business end of the championship. Unfortunately, things only went from bad to worse for Busch as he crashed out in practice.

Kyle Busch and RCR had high hopes for this weekend. Richard Childress Racing finally seemed to have a fast car for its star driver. This could’ve allowed Busch to fight at the front on Sunday. However, during practice, the 40-year-old lost control and binned it to the wall.

A clip posted by NASCAR on X shows that Kyle Busch simply lost the car midway through the corner. The No. 8 Chevrolet headed right into the wall with Busch failing to take evasive action. The former Cup champion had a massive wreck with the hood of the car popping out. After making impact with the barriers, the car slid back to the center of the track with the engine catching fire. Thankfully, the RCR veteran was able to get out of the car unharmed.

Kyle Busch back to ‘zero’ trust in No. 8 car

The former Cup series champion is having a rough stint in the sport for the past few months. Kyle Busch has simply failed to bring in results for RCR. Now, the Iowa weekend has turned into a disaster as the 40-year-old will be forced to start from the back of the field. Moreover, his crew has a tough job on its hands to prepare the backup car.

Kyle Busch admitted that the entire Richard Childress Racing team was having a hard time. RCR has failed to come close to the likes of Hendrick Motorsports or Joe Gibbs Racing this year, while its drivers struggle to get to the front of the pack. Additionally, Busch felt for his No. 8 crew who will need to get everything in place for the backup car before Sunday’s race.

Obviously, it’s tough for the guys. Hate it for the guys. Everybody at RCR, especially the 8 crew here. I’m sure we’ll rely on some of the 3 guys to try to help us get the backup car prepared overnight and get us into the race tomorrow.

Kyle Busch said, as quoted by Motorsport.com.

The 40-year-old highlighted that it takes a few laps before a driver can trust their car on a track. As Kyle Busch did more laps at the track, his pace would keep on improving. He claimed that before his wreck, he had around 75-80% trust in the car. However, after the massive incident, all the progress went down the drain and now Busch has no faith once again.

I mean, obviously we had decent speed, you know, just trying to work on up to it and consistently just get better and better with laps. So, that’ll be about the same thing we got to do tomorrow. Just kind of, you know, I was probably built up to about 75, 80 percent trust. Now I’m back to zero again, you know. So, just trying to figure all that out. Lap by lap.

Kyle Busch added.

Kyle Busch’s problems seem to have no end. The 40-year-old is running out of time to secure a spot in the Playoffs with Iowa being another setback. the RCR veteran will be hoping to make some progress in the race. However, a race win seems nothing short of a distant dream.
