The NASCAR Cup series will hit the newly paved Sonoma Raceway for the 16th round of Cup Racing as the track host the Toyota/ save mart 350, the second Road Course race of the season following the early season race at COOTA, in Texas. The race will surely be producing fireworks like the previous track experience alongside the fact that the playoffs are getting closer and closer everyone will make the drivers go hard at the track.
Going into the 1.99 miles race the Hendrick Motorsports team will be hoping to get back to winning ways as the team hasn’t been able to secure one since the monster Mile win by Chase Elliott. Defending champion Kyle Larson is having his bad luck while William Byron who had secured two cup wins this season is struggling to break into the top 10 after the win.
The fourth driver Alex Bowman on the other hand is a curious case as his consistent runs are heavily underrated as he is fighting hard to clear the narrative that he comes 4th in the HMS pecking order of best drivers. Bowman the showman has only finished outside the top 10 six times this year and has also and has had a good outing last week at Gateway.
Now the Las Vegas cup race winner this year has come forth expressing his thoughts on how him going on a double duty driving the no:7 spire Motorsport truck in Sonoma s of in COTA will help him in the final race on Sunday and what are his hopes for the race.

Alex Bowman acknowledged that he finds it important to run as many laps as he can before he gets into his No:48 HMS Chevy Camaro ZL1 for the Sunday race. He went on to say that his last Truck outing with the No:7 Spire motorsports team which came in COTA helped him to learn the track a lot making him much faster in the Cup Race thanks to the pace offered by the truck in the truck race. He pointed out that though he wasn’t able to secure the desired result the experience only made him better.
“I think it’s important to get as many laps as I can in before getting in the No. 48 Ally Chevy on Sunday. The last time we ran the No. 7 Spire truck, we had a ton of speed and I think it helped me learn the track which helped me be fast in the Cup race. Obviously, it didn’t end the way I wished, but ultimately, the experience can only make me better,” Alex Bowman said.
The No:48 team Crew Chief Greg Ives pointed out that the COTA outing of Bowman was a success in terms of pace and he only lost the race due to the fact that he had to collect someone else’s mess. He pointed out that it is great to see Alex bowman going racing the No:7 truck as it served him well last time as he gained some confidence and pace from the track. Greg Ives added that he is confident and optimistic that the NO:48 team can have redemption this time at Sonoma.
“We had a ton of speed at COTA (Circuit of The Americas) and got collected in someone else’s mess which cost us a win. I think it’s great that Alex (Bowman) is going to get back in the No. 7 HendrickCars.com Spire truck to get more road course experience – it served him well last time,” Greg Ives said.
“We learned a lot at COTA and Alex gained some confidence in his ability to run well on road courses, so I am optimistic for the race and look forward to getting out to Sonoma (Raceway) and redeeming ourselves on a road course,” Greg Ives added.
