Exactly five years ago, SummerSlam 2019 emanated from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. The opening bout of that event featured Becky Lynch defending her Raw Women’s Championship against Canada’s own, Natalya, in a Submission match. Reflecting on the five-year anniversary of the PPV, Nattie took to X to express her admiration for the match.

Moreover, she said that opening the show in her home country made the moment even more special. Although Natalya failed to dethrone Lynch, she ended up delivering one of the better matches of the latter’s reign. The Man would go on to hold that championship until Money in the Bank 2020, a day after which she handed the belt to Asuka due to her real-life pregnancy.

Speaking of The Queen of Harts, she has been notably absent from television for over two months now. Natalya last competed on the June 4 episode of NXT, where she defeated Izzy Dame. Two days prior, the 42-year-old lost to Kiana James on Raw. In a backstage segment, Nattie teased a potential on-screen partnership with Sonya Deville, who had recently returned.

Natalya was one of the stars whose contracts were set to expire in the summer. However, WWE quickly locked her in to a long-term deal, owing to the importance of the former Women’s Champion both on and off screen. Having said that, only time will tell when and how the veteran returns to WWE programming.

Becky Lynch recently teased her retirement from WWE

A week ago, Becky Lynch sent fans into panic mode after she teased her retirement. The Man took to Instagram to send a message to the WWE Universe. However, it seemingly felt like Lynch was bidding adieu to her wrestling career.

Later, Fightful Select provided an update on the situation. According to the report, WWE is under the impression that Lynch will be returning in the future. The former Women’s Champion has not informed the company about anything regarding a potential retirement.

The 37-year-old’s contract with WWE expired on June 1. And according to several reports, she has not yet signed an official extension. Despite that, Lynch continues to be on the internal roster page and is expected to sign a new deal once she returns to WWE programming.
