Nate Diaz quite recently dropped the ‘N-word’ at the press conference for his upcoming fight with Jorge Masvidal. Diaz is from Stockton, California, and has always been big on the East Coast and West Coast hip-hop rivalry. Diaz recently told the Miami crowd that he would own the city if the referee had not stopped his first fight with Jorge Masvidal.
Nate Diaz has always been comfortable using the ‘N-word’ and has used it during the buildup of fight against Jake Paul as well. His most recent video caught him saying it in front of everybody at the press conference in Miami, Florida. Nate Diaz thought the questions were over, and used the slur as part of his closing speech.
If the last fight would have continued, and this was for land, this would be my city my n*gga, west side. F*ck all y’all. What’s up?Nate Diaz via Press Conference in Miami
The fight Diaz is talking about is their first encounter in the octagon back in 2019. Jorge Masvidal won that fight via TKO because of a doctor’s stoppage. This fight happened at UFC 244, where Diaz got a deep cut during the fight. This led the doctor to stop the fight, and Jorge Masvidal was declared the winner.
They never got a rematch in the octagon. Diaz went on to fight Leon Edwards and Tony Ferguson before leaving the UFC. Meanwhile, that fight was Jorge Masvidal’s final win, after which he suffered four back-to-back losses and ultimately announced retirement last year.
Both fighters have the experience of one boxing fight under their belt, which will be an interesting dynamic to watch as they take each other on again this June inside the boxing ring. Only time will tell if the result differs the second time around.
Have Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal boxed before?
Although unexpected, both Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal are not completely new to the boxing game. Other than their years of experience striking in MMA, both fighters have actually stepped into the boxing ring and fought before.
Jorge Masvidal has boxed professionally once. He fought Joseph Benjamin in a four-round boxing match and won the fight via majority decision. This was way back in 2005, right after Masvidal had beaten UFC veteran Joe Lauzon. He has not returned to the squared circle since. Boxing is Masvidal’s primary base in MMA. As such, the long time away from the sport might not affect him that much.
On the other hand, Nate Diaz had a pretty public encounter with Jake Paul in the boxing ring. Diaz went the distance with Paul but ended up losing the fight via unanimous decision. Interestingly, Jake Paul has a ginormous offer of $10 million for both Diaz and Masvidal to fight him in MMA at PFL. Only time will tell if the winner of Masvidal vs. Diaz 2 will move on to compete against Paul in MMA.
