Michael Jordan’s “Cincoro Tequila” has a beautiful backstory to it. Co-owned by the owners of four different NBA franchises, the brand is a beautiful expression of their shared love of the liquor.
Launched in 2020, the “Cincoro Tequila” is owned by Michael Jordan, Lakers owner Jeanie Buss, Milwaukee Bucks owner Wes Edens, Boston Celtics’s owner Wyc Grousbeck and Emilia Fazzalari. It was during a dinner back in 2019 that the group of friends got together, and their shared love of tequila eventually prompted them to launch the ultra-premium liquor brand.

Warriors’ legend Stephen Curry’s latest venture has seen him step into the spirits industry. Announced in March 2023, Curry’s “Gentleman’s Cut” is a Kentucky-based bourbon brand. It is a product of Game Changer Distillery.
Curry partnered with John Schwartz, owner of California’s Amuse Bouche Winery, to launch the bourbon brand. “I’m proud to have helped carefully craft a new signature Kentucky straight bourbon,” Steph said. “This rich, complex and bold bourbon is the perfect offering to commemorate life’s great occasions, and will be part of a raised-glass toasting moment in the lives of my fans, friends and family.”

LeBron James is another all-timer on the list with a tequila brand of his own. King James launched the brand known as “Lobos 1707 Tequila,” partnering with the liquor company in 2020. Later it won the 2022’s Best Reposado Tequila ahead of Jordan’s “Cincoro Tequila.”
When asked about the brand, James said, “I knew the first time I tasted Lobos 1707 Tequila that it was special. When I learned more about the brand story and leadership team, I just wanted to be a part of it.”

Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen and winemaker Dave Phinney partnered to launch the “Digits Bourbon” in 2021. The brand aims to serve a distinguished taste of the best bourbon whiskey to its valued customers.
Pippen was excited regarding the launch of the liquor brand, “My partnership with Dave Phinney has been remarkable from the start and I believe we have created a superb bourbon.”
“We wanted Digits to be more than a bourbon, we wanted it to be a reminder of who we are individually and how we came together to create this bottle. I’ve always celebrated with bourbon, now getting to celebrate with my own is something very special to me.”
5. Yao Ming

Former NBA big man Yao Ming also has a sophisticated family winery known as “Yao Family Wines.” Originally established in 2011, the winery applies a classic approach to create the most sophisticated liquor for its customers.
The inspiration behind his wine brand is quite wholesome. “A shared bottle of wine reminds me of Chinese meals at home, which are served on what Americans call a ‘Lazy Susan,’” Yao Ming said. “The food is placed in the middle of the table and shared. In the US, each person chooses their own meal, so the wine is what brings people together. It is shared and brings a common element to the meal.”
