Ben Simmons to Nets will be the ‘Stupidest’ move of Daryl Morey’s career: Stephen A. Smith 

With the trade deadline approaching on February 10, teams are looking to make the most significant and effective changes to their roster. Now, with the Brooklyn Nets registering season worst losing streak of 8 games, rumors of a potential James Harden-Ben Simmons trade have been all around. Now, NBA’s most brutal analyst Stephen A. Smith has decided to reveal his honest views upon the same. 

Ben Simmons is potentially one of the best contenders for Defensive Player of the Year, and has struggled offensively throughout his NBA career. Now with the likes of Brooklyn Nets being the suitors, Stephen A. Smith rightly points out that trading the Australian play maker to the team which only lacks a defensive super house, will be GM Daryl Morey’s stupidest decision of all-time.

What was opinionated by Stephen A. Smith on Ben Simmons trade? 

In a discussion with Kendrick Perkins on First Take, Stephen A. Smith stated, “Trading Ben Simmons to the Brooklyn Nets will be the most stupid decision of Daryl Morey’s career. There are only two teams whom you do not ant Ben Simmons to lay hands onto, Nets and the Golden State Warriors.” 

He added, “Simmons is often criticised for his offensive attributes, but with Nets and Warriors, both these teams have great players which will rule out Simmons’ shortcomings.” 

That being said, Stephen A. Smith makes a great point, with the likes of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant being present in Nets, all they require a defensive powerhouse on the backcourt. Same with Golden State Warriors, with Jordan Poole, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, Simmons’ addition is only going to increase the defensive prowess of the side. While they are already one of the most offensively equipped teams in the NBA, Simmons can make them the arguable best. 

Lastly, there are rumors of Ben Simmons and Seth Curry being asked in a trade package for James Harden, by the Nets. If that is the case, it remains to be seen what drama unfolds with the trade deadline approaching in a couple of days.
