Steve Nash and Kyrie Irving

It comes as no surprise well Kyrie Irving has been playing ever since his return to the Brooklyn Nets rosters in January. The situation surrounding the player during the earlier parts of the season had many people set on the fact that the Nets would not make it to the playoffs. But right now, Irving and the Nets are on their way to pulling off something highly impossible.

The Nets were initially one of the top seeds in the Eastern Conference until their lost James Harden during the trade deadline and then a few other players to injuries. This would put a halt to the success of a season they were having so far. Eventually, the Nets would slip out of the top five and down into the play-in berths.

Kyrie Irving once again pulls off the unexpected by helping the Nets defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 115-108. The Nets would have an incredible first quarter in scoring going 40-20. Both teams were almost very close in statistics as the Nets shot 53.6% from the field, 32.1% from three, and 66.7% from the free-throw line. They would dominate the game on defense recording 9 blocks and 9 steals.

Irving led the team with 34 points, 12 assists, and 3 rebounds shooting 12 of 15 attempts from the field. He was able to take over the game by finishing the first half with a smooth 9 of 9 from the field. Kevin Durant would also finish with a double-double of 25 points and 11 assists. Bruce Brown has been exceptional on the team concluding the game with 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists.

Kyrie Irving and the Nets face one major problem headed into the playoffs this season, lack of defensive presence. As strong as the game may have relied on it against the Cavs, this would be a problem in the future against a defensive-minded roster in the Boston Celtics. The Nets are not going to bring Ben Simmons back just yet who may be able to help.

Keyshawn Johnson had a few words to say on the ordeal the Nets may have to face. He said, “The only problem that I have with the Celtics matchup is that the Celtics defense is the x-factor.

Because the Celtics have two guys in Brown and Tatum that essentially can matchup score for score on KD and Kyrie. The defensive side of the ball is essentially better than the Nets.”
