Charlotte Hornets News: James Bouknight reveals true feelings after matching LaMelo Ball’s record
Charlotte Hornets rookie James Bouknight dazzled the crowd with his best game in this season so far. He was the last pick of the Hornets in last year’s draft and is proved their decision correct.
The Charlotte Hornets are on fire this season and the reason is not winning games but overall. A team so young as them often sparks a feeling of doubt among the other teams regarding their performance but the Hornets may be young but they sure are impeccable on the court. They often surprise their opponents with quick and precise plays like the defending Champs. The Hornets went to Milwaukee to face the Bucks and though they lost but they earned an enormous amount of respect from the former titles holders. The reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo personally exchanges his jersey with the leading scorer of Hornets LaMelo Ball, and this scene is not something that Giannis is seen being involved in.
Against the Bucks, LaMelo ball scored his this season’s highest 36 points with 5 rebounds and 9 assists. And, o that another rookie is following the same path then it is a good sign for the Hornets as the future is in good hands.

With 40 seconds left on the clock, the Hornets were trailing behind the Kings by a point when Cody Martin drops a three taking the lead from the Sacramento back and making the Hornets lead by 123-121. James Bouknight took the final free shots for the Hornets but missed both. Thanks to Cody’s free shot at a clutch point the Hornets could win the match by a point difference.
James Bouknight had his season’s best night yesterday against the Sacramento Kings. He dropped 24 points, 6 rebounds, and an assist for the Charlotte Hornets, and with this, he became the only one of the two rookies since 2007 to have scored 20 plus points, five or more rebounds, and 5 plus threes in a match.
After the match, Bouknight commented on his performance by saying, “The feeling was surreal, but I knew I was capable of this and my coaches believed in me. It’s just a testament to our chemistry as a team. Just had vets in my ear telling me that I need to stay ready. Miles Bridges has been telling me all year that my time is coming and today it came.”
The Hornets Head coach was seen praising the rookie. James Borrego said, “His confidence is growing. He’s been ready for this moment. We continued to say to Bouk, stay ready. Keep working your time is coming. He told me before the game ‘I’m ready to go, coach’ and he stepped up big tonight.”
Well, James got his opportunity and he took it with confidence. The Charlotte Hornets may not have depthless on their bench but there’s no lacking of talent. This win was much needed after their consecutive two losses against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Charlotte Hornets will take on Luka Doncic’s Dallas Mavericks on Monday.
