Chris Broussard praises Memphis Grizzlies by calling out Ja Morant a “legitimate MVP candidate”
JA Morant
Despite all the talent surrounding major teams such as the Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets, Chicago Bulls and others, it is time to shift our sights onto a team most of the NBA world would have considered to finish among teams of the middle order.
The Memphis Grizzlies are currently on a ten-game win streak placing them fourth in the Western Conference with a record of 29 wins and 14 losses. They have beaten almost all the great teams in the league and still find ways to prove everybody and every doubter wrong. A lot of their success is because of their efforts made to play a proper team game rather than having one specific player handle the entire show.
Chris Broussard says the Ja Morant led Memphis Grizzlies are no longer cute
Following their brilliant win against the Golden State Warriors, the Grizzlies had shocked many people around the league after having two key contributors seated out, Steven Adams and Dillon Brooks. As quick as fans are to blame it on a bad game that Stephen Curry has had, a big part of the reason why he had a bad game is because of a team effort made by the Grizzlies to stop the Warriors’ point guard.
“It made think that Memphis is for real. They are no longer this cute, young and upcoming team that’s gonna fade back to the eighth or ninth seed as the season goes on. They’re legitimate.” said NBA analyst Chris Broussard. Added onto this, the analyst said he does not think the team will finish the season as champions but they look like a champion chip caliber team.
Broussard further went on to elaborate saying that this young Grizzlies team beat almost every successful team in the league at the moment showing that they have potential. “The beat Brooklyn at Brooklyn, they beat Phoenix at Phoenix. And in ten straight they’ve won fifteen of their last eighteen.” He said.
“Everybody focuses on Ja Morant” says Chris Broussard
Ja Morant has proved everything he had to prove to be called one of the best players in the league at the moment. “In just his third year, he is already a legitimate MVP candidate. He’s the most exciting guy in the NBA. But there is more than Ja Morant.” said Broussard.
The analyst brought up a statistic from when Ja Morant had not been with the squad. The Grizzlies are 11-2 this season without their main player which points out how well the rest of the team is playing as well. According to Broussard, the Grizzlies play real five-man basketball. If you have not noticed, players of the Grizzlies do not average over the top numbers but are average at best, only because they involved each player rather than focusing on one person to run the team’s offense through the night and that can win games according to Chris Broussard.
