Years ago, following Kobe Bryant, a kid from Akron who came straight out of high school was welcomed in the NBA. LeBron James on 25th January 2020, surpassed Kobe Bryant to become the #3 in the NBA’s All-time scoring list.

LeBron James and the Lakers faced the Philadelphia 76ers, he needed 18 points to surpass the Mamba and become the no.3 in the NBA’s All-time scoring list. Philadelphia was sold-out in crowd attendance. It was not an easy match for the Lakers, but they lost the match 108-91. A game in which LeBron stole the spotlight by surpassing the Late Kobe Bryant.

LeBron achieved this in the 3rd quarter of the game, by scoring a lay-up, to which LeBron received a great standing ovation. LeBron James after the match recalled his time with Kobe Bryant in Philadelphia in 2002 for the NBA All-Star.

Kobe Bryant gifted LeBron James the special red, white, and blue colorway of his signature sneakers. Kobe Bryant wore size 14 and LeBron James wore size 15, LeBron James didn’t care much and wore them in the next match.

LeBron James said this after the match on appreciating what Kobe meant to him, “ It’s just too much. It’s too much. The story is too much. It doesn’t make sense. Just to make a long story short, now I’m here in a Lakers uniform, in Philadelphia, where he’s from. The first time I ever met him, gave me his shoes on All-Star Weekend. It’s surreal. It doesn’t make no sense, but the universe just puts things in your life. And I guess when you live in the right way, when you just give it everything to whatever you’re doing, things happen organically.”

Kobe Bryant spent his entire career with one team the Los Angeles Lakers for 2 decades, he won 5 NBA championships with the purple and gold, he was awarded 2 times NBA Finals MVP, 1 NBA MVP, he has been selected 18 times in the NBA All-Star, he has many more accolades which defines his career. He gave himself the nickname “Black Mamba”.

He was the #3 on the NBA All-Time scoring list, which was broken by LeBron James on the 25th of January 2020. Kobe Bryant congratulated LeBron James on surpassing him with a message he would cherish his entire life, as something for him that could be his last wishes to LeBron James. Kobe Said in a tweet, “Continuing to move the game forward @KingJames. Much respect my brother ?? #33644”.

Kobe Bryant is a legend for all, not just in the court but outside the court as well, he has inspired a whole generation with his mentality ‘Mamba Mentality’. Alex McCarthy said, “He was a mentality, he inspired the world, there have been many good athletes, maybe even great. But only one man possessed the Mamba Mentality, to be the first in the gym and to squeeze every drop of greatness out of themselves.”
