When CJ McCullum’s news hit the ears of Stephen A. Smith, he was outrightly disgusted with the move since CJ McCollum was a dear favorite of Stephen A. Steven A. Smith had some advice for Damian Lillard if he wishes to be in an NBA title Contender.

The Portland Trailblazers traded CJ McCollum to the New Orleans Pelicans, which resulted at the end of a 9-year partnership between Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, the duo who have been instrumental for the Trailblazers for the past 9 years. Portland with the trade got from the Pelicans a first-round pick and 2 second-round picks.

With the departure of CJ McCollum, the legendary backcourt partnership has come to an end. Damian Lillard is now alone in that position, when CJ McCollum came in as a starter in 2015 the NBA witnessed a shooter from the top drawer. He has shot 38.4% from beyond the arc and is ranked 7th in the NBA for three points made.

Things have gone downhill since the appointment of Joe Cronin and GM, with him at the helm he has already traded out Norman Powell and Robert Covington to the Los Angeles Clippers. The absence of CJ will be felt very soon, losing a player who has averaged 20 points per game for seven straight seasons. This season as well, he was averaging 20.5 points per game. The Portland Trailblazers have a huge spot to fill in and looking at the current situation, those shoes are going to be a little too big to be filled in.

Stephen A. Smith said in the ‘First Take’, “Chauncey Billups as far as I’m concerned is set up to fail. It’s not a great situation for anybody in Portland other than the young players. And Damian Lillard needs to get the hell out of there.” With all that said he is correct to say that Trailblazers are not in a good spot, no matter how loyal your players are, especially Lillard who has time and time again shown his devotion to the team, things are sure to go up in the air once the wrong decisions are made, if things do not go well for Cronin, Lillard will have to reconsider his loyalty.
