Leading NFL analyst and ESPN’s First Take show host, Stephen A Smith is among those who consider Tom Brady to be the best player the world of football has ever seen. He brought out comparisons between Brady and Lawrence Taylor, the former linebacker to give his justification as to why Brady should be considered the GOAT.

Smith also pointed out the major impact Brady had on the New England Patriots during his first 20 seasons at the franchise before he eventually moved on to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the final 2 seasons of his career.

“Seven Super Bowl championships from the quarterback position. He did it in his 20s, he did it in his 30s and 40s. When he retired his last year in the NFL, as a QB he threw for over 5300 yards. Okay, 40 touchdowns for crying out loud. And the last time we saw him, he was down 27-3 and came back to tie the damn game before Matthew Stafford connected with Cooper Kupp for the field goal.”

“When you compare a Lawrence Taylor with a quarterback, who spent three decades doing what he does, who by the way has 5 more rings. The last time I checked, it comes down to 2 things- winning and your role in winning. You look at Tom Brady, and you see how he’s been able to lead and how many times we saw the New England Patriots were thought to be out of weapons.”

He did not forget how Brady brought the Buccs to an improbable comeback in what will be his final career match. From a 27-3 deficit, Brady brought the Tampa Bay Buccaneers level against the Los Angeles Rams in the NFL divisional round encounter, but could not salvage a victory as the Rams won it by the barest of margins.

“When I’m looking at it from that perspective even the great Lawrence Taylor, who is phenomenal when we talk about football, not about athleticism or anything like that, just football, there is no greater winner and the fact that he was a winner at the QB position. To me, I put him(Tom Brady) head and shoulders above anybody else in this sport,” finished off Stephen A Smith.
