When Donovan Mitchell was drafted into the NBA back in 2017, it was reported that he was dating Deja Lighty. The proof of their relationship was all over social media posted by Lighty and Mitchell. The screenshot is still available on Player Wives. In the post, Mitchell used to refer to Lighty as his “partner in crime” and “my girl.”
They have even shared many posts of cuddling pictures with the caption, “Me n U,” as well as another one of them snuggling in matching jean outfits. She even shared a picture in which she was holding the Dunk Contest trophy of 2018 for Mitchell. So, what’s up now? Are they still dating or do they have any plans to marry each other?
Unfortunately, Jazz guard Mitchell and model Lighty are no longer love birds, reports of their breakup broke out in 2019, but the reason was unclear. According to Player wives, distance was the major concern for the couple in their healthy relationship.
Who is Deja Lighty and why did she break up with Mitchell?
Deja Lighty is the daughter of late hip-hop star Chris Lighty. She and Mitchell attended different colleges where she went to Temple University for college and he went to the University of Louisville, which were miles away from each other. But the thing which they had in common was their affection towards sports.
As Lighty completed her degree in Sports Management and her first job she worked for the Cleveland Cavaliers as an Account Executive and Mitchell was playing for the Jazz in Utah.
The long-distance relationship didn’t suit the couple and become the major reason for the end of their connection. Currently, Lighty has left the sports world and has started a new journey in modeling.
According to her LinkedIn profile, she is now working as a Community Manager for Jones Road Beauty and has become an internet sensation through her Instagram modeling.
