Owing to their shared love of the sport, Dwight and Te’a started courting in early 2019 and eventually tied the knot in 2020 in private.

Former WNBA professional Te’a Cooper hails from Newark, New Jersey. She went to the John McEachern HS in Powder Springs, Georgia, where she played basketball throughout high school. 

After graduating, Te’a moved to Knoxville, Tennessee where she attended college at the University of Tennessee and played college basketball. Cooper spent the later seasons at the University of South Carolina and Baylor where she had a stellar collegiate career and eventually entered the 2020 WNBA draft.

Dwight Howard and Te’a Cooper started courting in early 2019 and married in private the following year. As to where they had first met remains undisclosed but the two were very much in love when they got engaged in 2019.

However, when Howard and Cooper both unfollowed each other across social media platforms in 2021, it drew wide attention from fans. Later, Te’a Cooper confirmed that they had split and were no longer together.

Te’a Cooper was born April 16, 1997, to Kindall and Omar Cooper. She spent her early childhood in Newark, New Jersey, and attended high school at McEachern.

Tia has three siblings, Mia, Sharife, and Omar. Her brother Sharife Cooper is also a professional basketball player, currently playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA.
