“Failed Miserably” – Skip Bayless blames LeBron James for not bringing out the best in Russell Westbrook
Skip Bayless and LBbron James
LeBron James has the attention of Skip Bayless once again. This time Skip has some problems with LeBron’s leadership and his impact on the game. LeBron has been on a tear lately but somehow that has not translated to Los Angeles Lakers’ winning consistently or winning comfortably.
The Lakers lost to the Sacramento Kings who are a below .500 team in the Western Conference. LeBron James had a good performance as he scored 34 points in the game, but that wasn’t enough for a victory. Malik Monk scored 22 points and Austin Reaves had 19 off the bench. No other Laker player could score in double digits.

Efficiency was a big problem for the Lakers against the Kings. The Lakers made only 42 field goals of their 98 attempts. They went 16-47 from three-point territory, 34% for the night. Free throws remain another issue as the Lakers miss a lot of free throws. They are shooting at 73% from the free-throw line for the season, which is the 3rd worst in the league.

Skip Bayless questions LeBron James’ leadership
Skip Bayless pointed out the Russell Westbrook problem and held LeBron James responsible for that. Skip, on his show, Undisputed said – “The fly in the ointment is Russell Westbrook. Because LeBron thought going in – ‘I am going to get the best out of him’, right? He [LeBron] hasn’t. He has failed miserably in that regard right?! Russ is leading the league in turnovers, leading the league in minutes played. Pathetic from three and pathetic from the free-throw line. It is such a liability.“
Over the past few games, Russell Westbrook has cut down his number of turnovers. He has had four turnovers in the last four games, which is impressive from Westbrook’s standards. This four-game stretch also included two games with zero turnovers. But on the other side, his production is reduced to single digits. In the last three games, he has had 8, 6, and 9 points respectively.
LeBron has been very vocal about how his team at full strength still hasn’t got enough practice and enough game time practice being riddled with injuries and Covid protocols. So, not being able to get the best out of his team may still be early to say as the Lakers still seem to be figuring out. But, with halfway into the season, the biggest question lurking is that do they have enough time now.
